Imo Police, NAFDAC Team Up Against Illicit Drug Abuse
The Imo State Police Command and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) have strengthened their partnership to combat illicit drug abuse, counterfeit products, and related crimes in the state.
This followed a courtesy visit by the Imo State Coordinator of NAFDAC, Deputy Director Okeinya Helen, to the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Audu Garba Bosso, at the Command Headquarters in Owerri.
During the meeting, both agencies reaffirmed their commitment to working together to tackle the distribution and abuse of illicit drugs, as well as the circulation of counterfeit and substandard products that pose threats to public health and safety.
CP Bosso emphasized the need to target drug dealers, suppliers, and distributors, noting that cutting off the supply chain remains critical in reducing drug abuse and the criminal activities often associated with it, including cultism, violence, and theft.
The visit ended with a renewed pledge by both agencies to sustain collaboration in safeguarding public health and enhancing security across Imo State.
