Staff of the Office of the Deputy Governor, Lady Dr. Chinyere Ekomaru, organized a fun-filled surprised birthday for the number two citizen, last Monday.
it was part of the activities commemorating the birthday celebration of the Deputy Governor which was observed on May,31,2025.
Those who joined the staff of the Office of the Deputy Governor at the surprised birthday celebration in honour of Her Excellency, include: the husband of the Deputy Governor, His Excellency Chief (Barr) Chukwuma Ekomaru, SAN and her very close friends, namely, Prof. Eugene Oparah (former Imo Commissioner for Petroleum), Mr &Mrs Emeka Onuegwunwoke (mentees and family friends of the Ekomarus) and Amb. Ann Okereke (President, Mbaitoli Welfare Association, ALVAN).
The Deputy Governor who was overwhelmed with joy expressed immense appreciation to her Staff for celebrating her. She promised not to take the ‘early morning gift of a birthday party’ for granted as it means a lot to her, while challenging the staff for more commitment, collaboration and efficient service.
She equally thanked once again, the Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma for graciously choosing her to work with him as the Deputy Governor of Imo State, which has offered her a rare opportunity to serve Ndi Imo.
The husband of the Deputy Governor, His Excellency Chief (Barr) Chukwuma Ekomaru, SAN, expressed his delight and satisfaction at the show of love to his wife, the Deputy Governor, by her staff.
To him, it was a testament of love, unity, selflessness, and harmonious collaboration to supporting the Deputy Governor serve Ndi Imo with more humility and dedication, achieving all round success.
He described his wife, the Deputy Governor as a loving wife, good mother and caring grandmother with a kind heart designed to do only good. While advising the staff to leverage the Deputy Governor’s golden heart, he encouraged them to sustain the enviable relationship that exists between them and the Deputy, noting that it is to the benefit of the state, Imo.
In a very special way, he also expressed his profound gratitude to the Imo State Distinguished Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma for the privilege he offered his family, declaring that, they will not only be loyal and supportive but forever remain grateful to the Governor, for choosing his wife as the Deputy Governor of Imo State.
In his earlier address, the Principal Secretary, Office of the Deputy Governor, Pastor Chris Akushie, paid a glowing tribute to the Deputy Governor, expressing how peaceful, kind hearted and excellent she has been at the job, noting that her carriage and caring disposition necessitated the surprised event to let her know how good the staff of the office feel about her.
In the same vein, the Director, Administration and Finance (DAF), Dr. Linda Ogbu, speaking on behalf of the Staff praised the Deputy Governor’s good motherly attributes which has earned her huge admiration both from within and outside the Government House, remarking that, she does not only ensure work ethics but show great passion to service and teaches the staff especially the females on how to be good wives and mothers as well as how to invest in food production (farming) to assist their families and society.
Prof. Eugene, Mr. & Mrs. Onuegwunwoke, in their separate tributes described the Deputy Governor as a good woman, mother and grandmother who cares for family and friends without discrimination. While appreciating the Office of the Deputy Governor for making them part of the honour to the Deputy Governor, thanked God for elevating her and promised to keep praying and supporting her to a resounding success.
The highpoint of the event was cutting of the birthday cake.
