Governor Hope Uzodimma has described the establishment of Premium Trust Bank’s Regional Office in Owerri as another milestone in Imo State’s growing investment profile, saying it reflects increasing confidence by investors in the state’s economic environment.

Speaking during the commissioning of the bank’s regional headquarters in Owerri on Thursday, the governor attributed the development to his administration’s sustained investments in infrastructure, security, and economic reforms.

Uzodimma noted that the Premium Trust Bank facility is the third regional banking office to be inaugurated in Owerri within the past seven months, following similar investments by Access Bank and NOVA Bank.

According to him, the development further strengthens Imo’s reputation as a destination where investment opportunities thrive.

“Investment is a coward. It runs from noise, darkness and uncertainty. It settles only where it feels safe,” the governor said, adding that improved road infrastructure, enhanced security, and stable electricity supply have made the state increasingly attractive to investors.

He also stated that the gains recorded from the 2025 Imo Economic and Investment Summit continue to attract major investments into the state and assured Premium Trust Bank of the government’s continued support through investor-friendly policies and the availability of skilled manpower under the Skill-Up Imo Programme.

Encouraging more investors to explore opportunities in the state, Uzodimma said, “Do not come to Imo last. Come first.”

In his remarks, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Premium Trust Bank, Mr. Emmanuel Emefienim, described the Owerri office as the bank’s 32nd branch in four years and its first in any South-East state capital.

He said the new regional office marks the beginning of a strategic partnership with the Imo State Government and its people, revealing that more than 80 percent of the branch’s workforce was recruited from Imo State in line with the bank’s commitment to job creation, financial inclusion, and economic development.

The event was attended by the Deputy Governor, Lady Chinyere Ekomaru, members of the Imo State Executive Council, and other dignitaries from within and outside the state.
