Prominent political figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aminu Tambuwal, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe,(Abia South),Senator Austin Akobundu,(Abia Central) on Monday joined others to celebrate former Imo State Governor, Dr. Achike Udenwa, as he marked his 77th birthday.
The celebration, which took place in Abuja, attracted top politicians, friends, and associates of the former governor who described him as a patriotic Nigerian, a seasoned administrator, and a pillar of democracy whose leadership left a lasting impact on Imo State and the nation at large.
In their goodwill messages, Atiku Abubakar commended Udenwa for his steadfast commitment to national unity and democratic values, noting that his tenure as governor set a benchmark for good governance in the Southeast.
Tambuwal and Abaribe praised his humility and dedication to public service, while Akobundu lauded his mentorship of younger politicians within the PDP family.
Dr. Udenwa, who served as Governor of Imo State between 1999 and 2007, remains one of the founding members of the PDP and a respected voice in Nigeria’s democratic journey.
Other dignitaries from Imo State who witnessed the event include former Speaker Imo House of Assembly Kemdi Godfrey Dikeocha, Chief Willie Amadi, former Federal Commissioner, among others.
