… Uzodimma,Onyewuchi, Obi,Otti,Elumelu, Others Pay Last Respect.
The sky and the atmosphere of Ihiagwa Community, Owerri West LGAÂ Imo State, were heavy, gloomy and grief laden yesterday, Thursday, July 24,2025, as Nigerians from different walks of life, converged to pay last respect to a fallen giant and elder statesman, Chief Dr Chris Asoluka.
Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma represented by his Deputy Dr Chinyere Ekomaru, Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi,(Imo East District ), Mr Peter Obi, Alex Otti,(Abia Gov), and the CEO of United Bank of Africa,Mr Tony Elumelu, were among the array of distinguished personalities, who stormed the community to witness his interment.
While alive the Okwuruoha Owerri, was an embodiment of intellectualism, gentility, oratory, peace, finesse,and progress. He passed on recently at the age of 70.
As one whose life and times were dedicated to community, state,regional and national growth and development,Dr Asoluka left a legacy of service and patriotism. which continues to inspire and motivate the younger generation.
That life of service saw him serve in so many capacities,amongst which were, founding president Dozie Mezie Owerri, founding president Aka Ikenga, a pan Igbo socio-cultural organization, and member Imeobi Ohaneze Nde Igbo.
In public governance and administration, he was one time Commissioner for Finance Imo State, Chairman Forum of Commissioners’ of Finance in Nigeria, Member House of Representatives for Owerri Federal Constituency, and Chairman Governing Board Onne Oil and Gas Free Trade Zone Authority, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
