The Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodimma, has felicitated with a renowned legal luminary in the State, Barr. Peter Mgbemelu, popularly known as Dum-Dum, on the occasion of his 87th birthday anniversary, which held at his Owerri residence on Saturday.
Governor Uzodimma, who was ably represented by the Deputy Governor, Her Excellency Lady Chinyere Ihuoma Ekomaru, PhD, praised Dum-Dum’s illustrious career as a British trained Lawyer who has elevated the legal profession through his exceptional expertise and integrity, stressing that he has inspired generations of lawyers with his outstanding contributions to jurisprudence.
The Governor urged Dum-Dum to keep sharing his wealth of experience with younger lawyers, especially at this time the government is undertaking a comprehensive legal reforms across the country.
“Mentorship is crucial for sustaining Nigeria’s legal heritage, we pray for more longevity for you so that we tap more knowledge from your wealth of experience “.
“Your experience and knowledge are preciously invaluable and will help the younger lawyers and the nation going forward”, he said.
Barr. Peter Mgbemelu, thanked the Governor of Imo State for honouring him, while expressing gratitude to God almighty for adding another year to him, remarking that his life is full of testimonies.
Highpoint of the occasion was the cutting of the 87th birthday cake.
The event had prominent personalities in attendance, including: the husband of the Deputy Governor, His Excellency Chief (Barr) Chukwuma Ekomaru, SAN, former Senator representing Imo East at the National Assembly, Sen. Bright Nwanne, former Head of Industrial Relations, TCN, Hon.
