Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has officially inaugurated the Imo Vigilante Organization as part of the State Government’s renewed commitment to strengthening community-based security and enhancing public safety across the state.

The inauguration ceremony, which took place at the Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square, Owerri, attracted top government functionaries, security chiefs, traditional rulers, and community leaders from across Imo State.

Speaking at the event, Governor Uzodimma described the establishment of the vigilante organization as a strategic move aimed at complementing existing security agencies through grassroots participation in crime prevention and intelligence gathering. He emphasized that effective security remains a critical foundation for sustainable development and economic growth in the state.

The Governor further assured that the Imo Vigilante Organization will operate under clearly defined regulations and in close collaboration with formal law enforcement agencies. According to him, professionalism, discipline, and respect for human rights will be strictly upheld in the discharge of their duties.

He noted that members of the vigilante group are drawn from various communities across the state and will work closely with traditional institutions, youth organizations, and security formations to ensure a safer and more secure Imo State.

The Imo Vigilante Organization is expected to commence operations immediately.
