Coordinator of Imo Super League, High Chief Sir PMC Okeke,has maintained that football is a unifying game for the people,stressing that a nation that values development must invest in the game
The football enthusiast and business mogul disclosed this when he held a media interface ahead of the first-ever Imo Super League tournament which will commence on July,5,2025 at OSIA stadium Ngor Okpala Local government area of the State.
In his words,” 16 teams will be competing in the tournament to showcase their talent. This tournament also gears towards preaching for peace,progress in our State cause football is a unifying factor for the people, there is no discrimination in the game of football”. He stated
Furthermore,hinted that football scouts from Europe and Asia are expected to monitor the game which comes with a One million naira prize for the winner of the tournament,also that the game will be streamed live on selected channels.
The Ihitte/Uboma born community leader, urged well-meaning Imolites, football lovers and investors to indicate interest in supporting and sponsoring the tournament, as he thanked the Imo State Government for their support for the Football Association in the State, as he opined that football started in Imo.
Imo State Sports Writers Association of Nigeria,(SWAN), Cosmos Chukwuemeka called for accurate data and statistics of the tournament,from the highest goal scorer, player of each game played, and highlights of matches played, stating that it will help promote the tournament not only in Nigeria but outside the country.
