The Federal High Court sitting in Owerri has declared Hon. Kingsley Dimaku the rightful candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the Okigwe South Federal Constituency election.

Dimaku disclosed the development in a video uploaded on his Facebook page on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, where he celebrated what he described as a victory after weeks of legal battle over his candidacy.

According to him, he discovered in early August that his name had not been uploaded on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal despite winning the APGA primary election, leading to a pre-election legal battle.

“Early August, I found out that my name was not uploaded in INEC after winning my primary elections. It became a battle. But victory has come at last. I have won my pre-election matter in court. That shows this is really a divine intervention,” Dimaku said.

He said his name would now return to the INEC portal as APGA’s candidate for the forthcoming Okigwe South House of Representatives election.

Dimaku alleged that some desperate individuals attempted to frustrate his candidacy because of the strength and recognition associated with the Dimaku name, but said he would reserve further comments on the matter for another day.

He expressed appreciation to his legal team led by Victor Agunzi, SAN, as well as APGA executives at the national, zonal and state levels.

He also thanked Senator Athan Achonu, Dr. Fabian Ihekwueme and his wife, Prophetess Victory Dimaku, for their support throughout the legal battle.

Looking ahead to the election, Dimaku expressed confidence that APGA would emerge victorious in the January 16 poll, insisting that the contest would not be determined by money but by what he described as “Grace.”

He also promised not to disappoint the people of Okigwe South, citing his record as a member of the Imo State House of Assembly between 2011 and 2015.

“I will do more for my people. I will make sure employment is created through my contacts,” he assured.

The court victory, according to Dimaku, has cleared the way for him to continue his campaign as APGA’s candidate for the Okigwe South Federal Constituency seat.
