As she attends Owu festival of Amakohia Ubi

…LGA Chairman Osigwe, others thanked Govt for grassroot developmentÂ

Imo State Deputy Governor, Her Excellency Lady Chinyere Ihuoma Ekomaru, PhD, has called for the preservation of Igbo culture and tradition, she said this is for the future of our children to avoid them being mislead.

Availing that the people’s culture and tradition is trademark in identify them and also make them different and unique.

The Deputy Governor  reminded Traditional Rulers that they are the custodians of the people’s culture and tradition and as such, must strive to promote and protect them.

Ekomaru disclosed  this call during the Owu festival at Amakohia Ubi community in Owerri West local government area of the state, as she visited the palace of the traditional ruler of Amakohia Ubi, HRH Eze Smart Nze, Amaubi 11 of Amakohia Ubi.

The Number two citizen who went  in company of her husband, His Excellency Chief (Barr) Chukwuma Ekomaru, SAN, described the people of Amakohia Ubi as peace-loving people and enjoined them to keep living in harmony, maintaining the peace and love that exist among them.

She praised HRH Eze Smart and his cabinet for heeding to the directive of the Governor, in prioritising the security of the community, keeping it calm and united.

While receiving the Deputy Governor who represented the Governor at the event to the community, the Owerri West LGA Chairman, Hon. Victor Osigwe, thanked the Governor of Imo State Senator Hope Uzodimma for always identifying with the people of Owerri West, stressing that his visionary leadership has brought good dividends to the people, including the ongoing free Health Insurance scheme which has captured many indigenes of the area.

His Royal Highness Eze Smart Nze, Amaubi 1 of Amakohia Ubi, thanked all for gracing the Owu festival which he said is an annual event that brings the people together to preach about peace, love and development in the community. He thanked the State Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma and Deputy, for their support to the community, and promised to keep upholding the customs and traditions that promotes Igboness.

Other dignitaries who graced the occasion include; Chief Lemmy Akakem, Apex Leader APC, Chief Jude Ejiogu, Sir Fidel Onyeneke,Prof. Eugene Opara, among others

The Deputy Governor also assured the Eze and his subjects of continued government’s support, stressing that Governor Hope Uzodimma’s unwavering commitment to the needs of Ndi Imo is second to none.
