… PMC Okeke Hails Appointment,describes him as an erudite scholar

The Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) has announced the appointment of Prof. Remy Uche as its new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic).
Prof. Uche, a distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering, brings nearly three decades of experience in teaching, research, engineering practice and university administration to his new role.
A triple FUTOite, Prof. Uche obtained his B.Eng. in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, M.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering (Industrial and Production), and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri.
He is a Fellow of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), Nigerian Institute of Management (FNIM), Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FNIMechE), and Nigerian Institution of Industrial Engineers (FNIIndE).
Before his appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Uche served FUTO in several key administrative positions. These include Dean, School of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SEET); Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering; Director, Public Procurement Research Centre (PPRC); Acting Director, Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Office (IPTTO); Acting Dean, Student Affairs Unit; and member of the 10th Governing Council and Senate of FUTO.
Beyond the university, he has also undertaken significant professional and public service responsibilities, including service on the Governing Board of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), leadership of a Presidential Visitation Panel, and membership of the Technical Board of the Prototype Engineering Development Institute (PEDI), Ilesha, an affiliate of NASENI.
Prof. Uche has made notable contributions to engineering education, research, industrial productivity and institutional development. He was also a key member of the team that secured US$11 million in World Bank funding for the establishment of FUTO’s Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Procurement, Environmental and Social Standards.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of IKoro Okigwe Newspaper, High Chief Sir PMC Okeke, has congratulated Prof. Remy Uche on his appointment, describing it as a well-deserved recognition of his competence, experience and contributions to FUTO and the engineering profession.
Okeke expressed confidence that Prof. Uche’s wealth of experience in academic administration and professional service would add significant value to the university’s academic development.
He wished the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor success in his new assignment, noting that his appointment was a source of pride to the FUTO community and the wider Okigwe and Imo State communities.
Prof. Remy Uche officially assumed the new responsibility following his announcement today.
