Former Abia Deputy Governor, Ude Oko Chukwu, Resigns from PDP

Rt. Hon. Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, the immediate past Deputy Governor of Abia State, has officially resigned his membership in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing personal reasons for his departure. The resignation, effective immediately, was announced in a letter dated August 5, 2025, addressed to the Chairman of Ndi Elu Ward in Nkporo, Ohafia Local Government Area, and acknowledged by the party on August 7, 2025.

In the letter, Sir Oko Chukwu, who served as Deputy Governor from May 2015 to May 2023, described the decision as challenging but necessary, stating, “While it was a difficult decision to make, it is the best course of action for me at this time.” He expressed gratitude to the PDP for the opportunities provided during his tenure, highlighting the valuable experience and knowledge gained through his years of service within the party.
The former deputy governor concluded by thanking the PDP leadership for their understanding and support, extending his best wishes for the party’s future endeavors. The resignation marks a significant shift for Sir Oko Chukwu, whose next political move remains undisclosed.
