As the search for the next President of Igbo social cultural association Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo begins, the President Nze Fidelis Ozichukwu Chukwu, has issued a statement on how the next President would emerge.

 

It would be recalled that Nze Ozichukwu Chukwu took over as President after the demise of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, and his reign was to last for 21 days before the conduct of election for a new President, which is slated for tomorrow January,10,2025.

 

In a statement released and made available to newsmen it read;

 

Dear Igbo leaders, as you thought it necessary for me to be involved in the crucial task of ensuring a very smooth, seamless and successful transition of the post of President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide from Imo State to Rivers State on January 10th 2025; and ensure the flawless rotation of other relevant offices to the appropriate states without fail. I wish to plead with everyone who loves Igbo nation to move out and search for the best of us to occupy the positions as established without let or hindrance. Here’s a proposed comprehensive set of criteria that will be applied across the board for each position:

 

Essential Criteria:

1. PERSONAL HISTORY: Place and date of birth, proof of identity/indegeneship. Age Grade, Autonomous Community of Origin.

2. *RELEVANT EXPERIENCE*: Proven experience in leadership roles, particularly in cultural organizations, Age Grades, Town Unions, cultural Associations or similar contexts.

3. *EDUCATION and QUALIFICATIONS*: Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent. Higher educational qualifications and/or certifications in leadership or management will be added to the advantage.

4. *LEADERSHIP SKILLS*: Demonstrated leadership skills, including strategic thinking, communication, and problem-solving.

5. *CULTURAL COMPETENCE*: Deep understanding of Igbo culture, history, traditions, and values.

6. LANGUAGE/DIALECT. There must be strong evidence of speaking, understanding and effectively communicating in Igbo language or dialect.

7. *INTEGRITY and ACCOUNTABILITY*: Strong moral character, transparency, and accountability.

 

Desirable Criteria

1. *Vision and Strategy*: Ability to develop and implement a clear vision and strategy for OHANEZE NDIGBO WORLDWIDE.

2. *Collaboration and Partnerships*: Experience in building partnerships with stakeholders, including community leaders, organizations, and government agencies.

3. *Communication and Interpersonal Skills*: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse audiences and accommodate differences of opinion.

4. *Adaptability and Resilience*: Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, demonstrate broadmindedness, and navigate challenges with resilience.

5. *Digital Literacy*: Familiarity with digital technologies and platforms, including social media, online collaboration tools, and digital communication platforms.

 

Assessment Criteria

1. *Leadership Philosophy*: Ability to articulate a clear leadership philosophy and vision for OHANEZE NDIGBO WORLDWIDE.

2. *Strategic Thinking*: Ability to think strategically, making informed decisions that align with the OHANEZE’S goals and objectives.

3. *Communication and Presentation*: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and to present ideas and plans clearly and persuasively.

4. *Interpersonal and Relationship-Building Skills*: Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including community leaders, members, and partners.

5. *Emotional Intelligence and Empathy*: Ability to demonstrate emotional intelligence, empathy, and understanding in interactions with others.

 

Evaluation Process

1. *Initial Screening*: Review of applications and resumes to ensure candidates meet the essential state relationship criteria.

2. *Interviews*: Conduct in-depth interviews with shortlisted candidates to assess their real family history/background/heritage, leadership skills, experience, and fit with the OHANEZE’S vision and values

3. *Assessment of public opinion*: Use available assessment tools, such as petitions, legal opinion, or any other, to evaluate candidates’ suitability devoid of identity crises, legitimacy questions to save Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide of any moral burden.

 

4. *Final Evaluation*: Evaluate candidates’ overall performance and fit with the OHANEZE’S needs, using a balanced scorecard approach.
