Imo Legal Icon Dum Dum Set to Celebrate 88th Birthday

Renowned Imo born legal icon and respected elder statesman, Chief Peter Chukwuemeka Mgbenwelu, popularly known as “Dum Dum,” is set to mark his 88th birthday in what promises to be a grand celebration.
Speaking exclusively with IKoro Okigwe at his office in Owerri on Thursday, the legal luminary expressed gratitude to God for His faithfulness and the privilege of attaining the remarkable age of 88 in good health.
Chief Mgbenwelu, who has made significant contributions to the legal profession and public service over several decades, said the celebration would bring together family members, friends, political associates, legal practitioners, traditional rulers, and well-wishers from across Nigeria to celebrate a life dedicated to justice, leadership, and community development.
Fondly called “Dum Dum” by admirers and associates, the elder statesman noted that the occasion is not only a celebration of his birthday but also an opportunity to appreciate God for a life of impact and service to humanity.
The event which holds on Sunday,June,28,2026Â is expected to attract prominent personalities from the legal, political, and business communities, as Imo State joins in celebrating one of its most respected legal icons with over 60 years of experience in the bar.
