… Association commends Govt for innovation in health sector

Association of Medical Laboratory Scientist, Imo State branch, has poured encomiums on the the State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma for his efforts in the health sector in bettering the lives of citizens in Imo State.
Chairman of the Association MLS Chijioke Obinna, and his Excos made the disclosure when they paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor Lady (Dr) Chinyere Ekomaru,at her office on Tuesday.
He stated, ” We have seen alot of changes in the health sector under the administration of His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodimma, also there has been reduction of disease in the State”.
Obinna, called for partnership between the State government and the association,however appealed to Governor Uzodimma to use his Excutive order to rename the Vector Control department in the State Ministry of Health to Department of Medical Laboratory Scientist.
The Medical Laboratory Imo branch Chairman,also used the occasion to present other elected Excos of the association to the Deputy Governor, who were inaugurated into office last year, however stated that his administration has five point agenda, which one of them is securing a land from the government to build their secretariat, which he said will assist in the training of young graduates of the profession,opining that there is no much health institution in the State that will take young graduates for one year compulsory internship, while announcing that the association will be marking World Laboratory Day on April 15th and aims to highlight the crucial role of laboratories and laboratory professionals in healthcare, research, and public health.
Responding the number two citizen of the State, Lady (Dr) Chinyere Ekomaru, commended the association for their efforts in bettering lives of citizens, stressing that Government wouldn’t have made such huge achievements in the health sector without their sacrifice.
The Imo Deputy Governor, while congratulating them on their upcoming event on April 15,2025, also called for more public health enlightenment in the State by the association,as she urged them to also liaise with the State Ministry of Health Commissioners for more collaboration with government.
