Owerri the capital city of Imo State, will come alive again on 5th and -7th June,2024, as Nigerian Institute Of Food Science and Technology (NIFST) will be holding their 10th regional food summit in the State.

This was disclosed by Dr. Moses Ojukwu leader of the association in the State, when they paid a courtesy visit to the Office of the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Dr. Chinyere Ekomaru, on Wednesday.

 

Ojukwu, who expressed satisfaction with the hosting right, announced the theme of the summit, as “Scientific Innovation for Nutrition Security”, opining that the 10th regional summit will attract delegates from both South East and South South regions of Nigeria , which includes; Abia, Rivers, Cross River and Akwa Ibom States.

 

He also stated that the Deputy Governor of Rivers state,Prof. Ngozi Odu , who is also a member of the association will feature as a keynote speaker at the summit.

 

Adding her voice a member of the association, Prof. Ngozi Ihediohanma, described the Imo Deputy as an advocate of food security, while appealing for her presence at the summit which she said will be impactful for the growth of the State.

 

Responding, the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Dr. Chinyere Ekomaru, assured the association that State government will provide an enabling environment for the success of the summit, stressing that she has always been an advocate of food security as a trained Home economics.

 

While informing the association that the State Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma is desirous in improving the standard of living of Imolites,through quality healthcare system, education, and adequate welfare for the people.
